Day 13 - Wolves x Willett

For the final tasting I would like to introduce Wolves and Willett limited edition rye whiskey. A collaboration between Kentucky’s Willett Family Estate and Wolves Distillery in California. This was such a delight, I chose this to end this year’s calendar.
This 10-year whiskey project has a mashbill of many rye blends, coming in at a respectable 103 proof.
The nose is bright, slightly creamy. Vanilla, orange and caramel and cinnamon. The initial pallet is tobacco, caramel and nuts. The finish leaves a velvety mouthfeel, a pop of spice and vanilla.
It was quite a surprise to find a straight rye at this proof to deliver such a smooth and lovely balanced pallet.
This is an amazing sip. In my opinion, it does not need any ice. However, it benefits from letting it breathe for a minute or two. Enjoy.

Luck #13 - here we are at the end of the road. We've been patiently waiting to try the "red cap" since we've opened the box knowing it was going to be special.
We noted a slightly darker color (less golden) and the nose didn't preset strong in one camp or the other (sweet/spice vs hot). Our initial sips we both noted that the taste was smooth, with more of a bitter after taste. This didn't try to be sweet, it didn't try to melt your face, this didn't taste like the inside of a charred whiskey barrel. It was a very balanced sip. Clearly these two distilleries know what they are doing.

Wow! A wonderful ending to a great 2025 whiskey christmas. This is certainly my favorite of the bunch. Will be hunting this down along with a few others. Thank you so much for introducing us to all of these amazing whiskeys.
Holy shit! This is good! We have a winner! This is a bottle that could get me into a whole lot of trouble because it is just so nice and easy to drink. I will be finding this and adding it to the shelf - though I don’t expect it will last very long. Thank you for a stunner to finish off this amazing journey! XOXO

Absolutely spectacular pick to end with! This might be my favorite of them all. Sydney says it's stunning and possibly his favorite out of everything we've tried. So much complexity and depth. We love it. Thank you so much for a wonderful whiskey christmas!!
