Welcome to Bristol, Pennsylvania. Home of Dad’s Hat Straight Rye Whiskey.
With a mash bill of 80% rye, 15% malted barley and 5% rye malt dad's hat straight rye whiskey comes in at 128 proof.
Aged 6 years this whiskey benefits from a few drops of water to open all those amazing flavors. The nose is cinnamon forward with plums and pleasant vanilla sugar. The palette reminds me of Mesquite and a bit of dill. There is smoke and the sweetness that is very pleasant. The finish is salty chocolate and coffee.
This is bright and beautiful, if not strong rye. This benefits from the addition of water or ice, just to open it to all those beautiful flavors in hiding.

We went into this one blind as we've been doing this entire run and made the first sniff test. This one didn't present with any tell-tail signs of what was to come. The aroma presented with a bit of spice, but mostly oak to my nose. Ok, onto step two - glass to lips and taste the wonderment. KA-POW! What was that? Reads description....128 proof. That was something!
I could tell this was a stronger sip and despite the high proof the earthier flavors came through rather than just a mouth of fire. After a few more sips I started getting strong pepper and spice notes. Once the cube was introduced those notes of darker chocolate came through. I real…
Definitely expands with a rock. I enjoyed the tasting.
Cinnamon or candy apple nose. Sweet. A little sweet on the front taste as well. The rye doesn’t come through for me except for maybe th very end. A bit of smoke. A bit heat to finish as well. A bit of a puzzle for me. Very different from others but I’m trying to figure out if I love it or not. Don’t dislike it
