Hidden Barn Whiskey is something I've never seen, but I am going to keep my eyes open for in the future.
This one comes in at 111 Proof. It has 70% corn, 20% rye and 10% malted barley.
It has a medium Copper color and nose full of butterscotch honey, cinnamon and apricot.
The palette has butterscotch, dried fig, black pepper, sweet cherry and the black tea.
The finish is slightly dry with a toasted oak and black pepper finish.
Overall, this is a wonderful bottle. Considering the high proof, it is incredibly smooth. I look forward to hearing your opinions in the comments. I hope you like this bottle. It's a good one.
Alexis loved this one! Hot black licorice for me. Added a couple drops of water no real change. I think ice might be nice with this bad boy. Want to revisit.
I am two days behind, but working on getting caught up.
Oooo! This is hot! In a good way. But what surprised me the most is how much I can taste the cherry. I never expected that. This might end up on my shopping list.
This was a complete unknown. I was very happy to find this surprise. New flavor notes are always a surprise.
Tonight's a double-header (catching up from last night). What a start this offers - I knew as I poured it out that the dark color meant I was gonna taste the inside of a barrel. Instantly that 111 proof greets with heat as it goes down... time to tame the beast a bit with a cube. The tastes is very oaky and presents with a less sweet taste which I didn't expect given the abundance of corn. It finishes sharp, I would say pepper as Paul described. Overall a great find - thank you for sharing!
For whatever reason, the black tea note on the finish is the signature on this delicious bourbon. And this is not a bad thing at all, because I love that whisky can have so many different personalities. Cheers!
