Although this bottle is classified as a bourbon, it drinks like a rye. It has an amazingly high rye mash bill. Try to enjoy this one neat, although some of you may want a rock or a few drops of water to cool the heat.

This one comes out of Las Vegas at 115 Proof. (Vegas does nothing small). It is a dark amber in color. The nose has cinnamon, toffee and a peppery spice. This has a wonderful mouthfeel. It's very rich.

Once you pass the alcohol tingle, I note bitter citrus, like a fruit leather flavor. There are notes of clove and nutmeg, rye and bittersweet chocolate. I also get flavors of caramel and honey.

The finish has a bit of oak and for me, hazelnuts and earthiness, like dirt. That's not a bad thing.

This is an amazing bottle. I/we hope you appreciate it as well. Please let us know your thoughts in the comments

Update: you can get this in SF at Total Wine and K&L for $65! Seems like a screaming deal. In my cart!

OMG. I thought it would be tough to beat the WJ Lucky 13 but this is a Wowza pour for me. I got toasted brown sugar on the nose. I love a high rye bourbon and this suits me right down to the ground. So well integrated. I am so nervous to look up how much this costs because I’m gonna pay it. Thanks so much for introducing me to this one!!!

Holy Smokes! This one might be my favorite so far. The nose is so nice. And then you taste it. Yes, it has a burn, but it does not really hit until after, when your throat is on fire. But all the flavors are so good! And the heat would be great on a cold rainy night, like today. I think I might have to visit the Bottle Barn and pick up a bottle of this baddy.

Something I noticed from casks held in warmer climates is imparts some amazing flavors in a short period of time.

This was something I noted when we visited the Garrison Brothers in Texas and in any of the Indian whiskeys (ie; Amrut, Paul John). Not sure if Smoke Wagon has a tasting room, but if it exists, we will find it...

Why does everything coming out of Vegas seem like the 25-year-old strip mall version of itself? Tattoo shops? Good luck with those talentless hacks in casino lobbies. Entertainment? Vegas got the broke-down version of Elvis after Colonel Tom fucked up his career with 33 soulless movies. Food? Have you been to the buffet at the Bellagio? Bar life? 7am at the back of the Four Queens will humble you, man. But I've been wrong so many times about Vegas. Frankie's Tiki Room is SUCH a great bar. Meow Wolf is one of the most innovative entertainment experiences I've had. Esther's Kitchen could hold its own in the San Francisco or New York restaurant scene. And this giant, obnoxious, Vegas Strip…
